What is recorded

Every category Vantage Stats can record, every part of your profile it can mirror, the list it never records, where it all lives on your computer, and how long it is kept.

This page is the inventory. It lists every category Vantage Stats can record, with the exact sentence the consent screen shows beside it; every part of your profile the mirror can read and the menu that fills it; the things no switch can turn on; and where it all lives, for how long, and how to take a copy or delete it. It is for anyone who wants to know precisely what they are agreeing to before they press the button.

The lists come from the catalogue that ships inside the mod, as of Vantage 2.0.1. The consent screen, the recorder's filter and the service's checks all read that same catalogue, so a category cannot mean one thing on screen and another on the wire. The binding text is the privacy policy.

How recording works

Vantage Stats records only what your own client sees while you play: the trackers Vantage already runs, your inventory, your sidebar, a fixed list of tab-list widgets, and the menus you open yourself. It does not read Hypixel's API for it, and it never opens anything for you.

Recording stops by itself in three places:

  • Lobbies, whose sidebar describes Hypixel rather than a SkyBlock profile.
  • SkyBlock Guest islands, meaning anybody else's island or garden, whose sidebar describes the owner, not you.
  • Anywhere outside SkyBlock.

Nothing is filed under a SkyBlock profile until Hypixel's own Profile ID: line in chat has named it, and a profile is never guessed from its name. What is counted before that line arrives waits, and is dropped if you leave the world first.

The ten categories

Each category is its own switch, and all of them start off. The sentence beside each is the one the consent screen shows, quoted as the catalogue ships it.

CategoryThe consent screen saysWhat it fills on your page
ActivityWhen you played, where you were and for how long.Time played and where, sessions, the Playtime tab
CombatWhat you killed and what killed you: mobs, bosses, slayers, dungeons, Kuudra, dragons, deaths.Kills, the Deaths tab, dungeon, slayer and Kuudra counts
GatheringWhat you mined, farmed, fished, foraged and hunted.Mining, farming, fishing, foraging and hunting counts
What droppedEvery item that landed in your inventory, counted by item. The Loot tab
EconomyCoins in and out, purse, bank, networth, what your museum is worth, and your own bazaar and auction activity. The Economy tab; the Currencies, Net Worth and Auctions parts of your profile
ProgressionLevels and totals as they stand: skills, slayers, dungeons, collections, bestiary, Rift - and fairy souls, museum donations, gifts and island upgrades. Most of the Profile half, and level history
ItemsThe items you are carrying and storing: gear, accessories, pets, inventories, sacks. The Gear, Accessories, Inventory and Pets tabs
EventsSeasonal events: chocolate, hoppity, carnival, bingo, Jerry.Event counts, and the Events part of your profile
TimelineA diary of your notable moments: level-ups, rare drops, personal bests, deaths. The Timeline tab
VantageWhich Vantage features you use, and your Vantage Vet score. The Vet tab

The consent screen adds a line to two of them. Under Progression it counts, from the catalogue, how many of the profile's parts that one switch fills, because it is the largest single switch. Under Vantage it adds About the mod, not the game., because that category is the one you can leave off with a clear conscience if you want to share your SkyBlock and nothing about which mod features you use.

Your profile mirror

The mirror is the Profile half of your page: your own profile as your client last saw it. It is made of twenty-five parts in this catalogue, and each one belongs to a category, except the header, which every page needs.

A part fills in two ways. Some readings are passive: what you carry and wear, your sidebar, the whitelisted tab-list widgets, and the data on your own items. The rest come from menus, the first time you open the menu the part is written in. The prompt in the last column is the sentence the page and /vt stats checklist both show while a part is missing.

Three parts depend on a tab-list widget that Hypixel lets you switch off: Currencies needs the Bank widget, Minions the Minions widget, and Miscellaneous the Fairy Souls widget. When the widget is off, the checklist says Turn on /widget and its name, and the page says Not shared rather than showing a zero.

The Mirror your profile option, on by default, is the switch for the whole mirror. Turn it off and no menu, item, storage page or tab widget is read for it at all; anything half-read is let go rather than filed later. Your categories and the Activity half's counting are untouched.

Which widgets it reads

The tab list is read from a whitelist of widget names that ships in the catalogue, never by walking the whole tab list. The widgets that list people (players, guests, your party, your co-op) have no code path that reaches them, and a widget whose name looks like a roster is refused even if somebody adds it to the list.

Items, as they are sent

An item is sent as its SkyBlock id, its name, its rarity, its lore and a short fixed list of attributes, each read through its own named accessor. Its raw item data is never sent, nor any coordinate, nor its signed skin data. Lore lines that name a person, which SkyBlock's own lore sometimes does, are removed when the item is read, so they never reach the copy on your computer either.

The first import

The first time an account signs in, Vantage sends, once, the history it already keeps on this computer, so your page is not empty on day one. It reads the Vantage Vet counters, playtime, the grind ledger, the loot trackers, the event log, the Rift store, the combat and gathering stores, and the death ledger.

  • It goes only into the categories you switched on.
  • It is marked as imported, and your page's Delete my data can remove it on its own with Only what was imported.
  • Lifetime totals arrive as totals, not as numbers on a made-up day, so no chart grows a spike that never happened.
  • Local files that hold other players' names are never read for it.

On a computer another Minecraft account has also played on, some stores cannot say whose they are, because they are filed by profile name alone: playtime, the loot trackers, the Rift store, the event log, and the farming and powder stores. Those are left out rather than guessed at, and a line in chat names them. Those numbers start from the day of the import.

The import has a 24-hour window after the first sign-in. If it cannot finish, it tries again at your next warp while the window is open. If the window closes first, the status screen's Account tab says so beside Import history again, which runs it again without counting anything twice.

Never recorded

Whatever you switch on, these are never sent. The consent screen lists them in these words:

  • Anything about another player - no party or lobby lists, no co-op members, no auction sellers, no killers' names.
  • Chat, of any kind.
  • Coordinates, of any kind.
  • Your Minecraft session token.
  • File paths, your computer's name, your address.
  • Anything from outside Hypixel SkyBlock.

These are not filters over data that was collected anyway: the recorder has no way to read them in the first place. A death is recorded by its cause, one of a fixed list, never by a killer's name. An island is recorded as an island or an area, never as a position.

Behind that, two checks look for the shapes a player's name takes in SkyBlock text. On your computer, a row that trips the check is held back on its own, with the matching words blanked, and kept for a bug report while everything else goes. On the service, a batch that still carries a name where no name could honestly appear is refused.

On your computer

Everything Vantage Stats keeps lives in one folder, so removing it is one delete and nothing is left in a folder somebody forgot:

config/vantage/stats/
install.json this game install's random id
<uuid>.json your account file: consent, settings, profile names, counters
<uuid>.token your sign-in token, readable only by you where the system allows
days/<uuid>/ the day book, one file per SkyBlock profile
pending/<uuid>.json sessions and timeline rows not yet sent
mirror/<uuid>/ the last reading of each part of your profile, per SkyBlock profile
outbox/ uploads built and not yet accepted
rejected/ uploads the service refused, kept for a bug report
exports/ what /vt stats export wrote

<uuid> is your Minecraft account's id, so two accounts on one computer each have their own account file, token and records. None of this is part of a config profile: exporting or sharing your Vantage settings never carries your consent, your token or your stats.

How long it is kept

As of Vantage 2.0.1, the service keeps a day of your numbers for two years by default. You can choose anything from 30 days to ten years on the status screen's Account tab, with the Keep for slider, while this computer is signed in. Days older than that are folded into your lifetime totals and removed each night, so your all-time figures survive without a day-by-day diary being kept for ever.

WhatHow much is kept
Days of numbersYour choice: 30 to 3,650 days, 730 unless you change it
SessionsThe newest 1,000 per SkyBlock profile
Timeline momentsThe newest 5,000 per SkyBlock profile
An account nobody signs in toKept as you left it, until you delete it

A day is a calendar day in your account's time zone, not the server's. The Account tab shows the zone and lets you change it once every 30 days.

Export and delete

You can see everything that was recorded, and remove it, without asking anybody. Every delete answers with the number of rows it removed, table by table, because a delete you cannot observe is one you have no reason to believe.
