Install

Which jar to download, where it goes, and what has to be installed beside it.

Vantage is one jar file. You put it in the mods folder of a Minecraft install that runs Fabric, start the game, and it is there. This page says which jar to take, what it needs beside it, how to tell it loaded, and how to update or remove it later. It is for anyone installing Vantage for the first time, including players who have not used Fabric before.

Which jar

Every release has one jar for each Minecraft version Vantage supports, built from the same code at the same commit. Take the one that matches the version you play. The current release is 2.0.1, from the releases page. As of 2.0.1, Vantage supports 26.1.2 and 26.2:

MinecraftThe jarLoads on
26.1.2vantage-<version>+26.1.2.jar26.1.2 and later, before 26.2
26.2vantage-<version>+26.2.jar26.2 and later, before 26.3

Each jar declares only the range it was built and tested against. Fabric Loader checks that range when the game starts and will not load the jar outside it, so a jar for the wrong version fails at once and says why, rather than crashing later.

Beside each jar the release also carries a -sources jar, which is the code it was built from and not something to install, and a .sha256 file for checking the download (below).

Stable, beta and alpha

A release belongs to a channel, and its version says which. A version ending in -alpha.N, such as 1.0.11-alpha.2, is an alpha; one ending in -beta.N is a beta; a plain version is stable. Stable is what everyone gets. Betas and alphas ship earlier and may break.

Unless you are testing on purpose, take the newest stable release.

What it needs beside it

You needVersionNotes
Fabric Loader0.19.3 or newerThe mod loader itself.
Fabric APIanyA mod of its own: its jar goes in the same folder.
Java25 or newerThe jar is compiled for this Java and declares it, so the game has to run on it.
Hypixel Mod APIbundledIt is inside Vantage's jar. Do not install it separately.
ModMenuoptionalIt only adds a config button to the mod list.

You do not need a Hypixel API key. Vantage never asks for one: it reads Bazaar and auction prices on its own, and reads profiles through its own service. Data and privacy says what each source is.

Where it goes

The jar goes in the mods folder of the Minecraft install you play from: .minecraft/mods for the official launcher's default install, or the instance's own mods folder in any other launcher. For 26.2, with Fabric API beside it, the folder holds at least:

mods/
fabric-api-<version>+26.2.jar (any Fabric API for 26.2)
  vantage-<version>+26.2.jar

Keep one Vantage jar in the folder; Updating says how to swap it for a newer one.

Check the download

The .sha256 file beside a jar holds the jar's SHA-256 checksum and its name, on one line. To check a download, compute the checksum of the jar you saved and compare it with the first word of that file. On Windows:

certutil -hashfile vantage-<version>+26.2.jar SHA256

On Linux, with both files in the same folder, sha256sum -c reads the file and checks the jar for you:

sha256sum -c vantage-<version>+26.2.jar.sha256

If the two do not match, the download is damaged or is not the file the release published. Download it again.

Check that it loaded

Start the game and type /vantage, or /vt, in chat: the menu opens. Right Shift opens it too, unless you have bound that key to something else. What happens the first time is on the next page, First launch; every command is in Commands.

If the menu does not open, Troubleshooting covers what to check and what to send in a bug report.

Updating

Vantage checks for a newer release once per session and, when one exists, shows a single toast and, unless you turn it off, a chat line with a link to the release. It only tells you about releases on your channel or a more stable one; your channel starts as the one your jar came from. By default it also ignores releases that have no jar for the Minecraft version you run. The Update checker feature holds those choices and a Check now button; Announcements and updates explains them.

Vantage never updates itself. To update, replace the old jar in mods with the new one and start the game.

Your settings stay where they were. They live in config/vantage/ inside your Minecraft folder, not in the jar, and a newer version reads the files an older one wrote, upgrading them as it loads.

Removing it

Delete the Vantage jar from mods. That is all the game needs.

Your settings, HUD layout and downloaded data stay in config/vantage/ until you delete that folder too, so putting the jar back later picks up where you left off. Data and privacy lists what is in it.

  • First launch - the setup that opens the first time the game starts with Vantage.
  • The menu - where every setting lives.
  • Data and privacy - what the mod sends, and what it keeps on your computer.
  • Troubleshooting - what to check when something looks wrong.
