The profile viewer

Looking up any player's public SkyBlock profile, in game with /vt pv or in a browser at /p/ and a name, where the data comes from, and how it differs from Vantage Stats.

The profile viewer shows a SkyBlock profile, anybody's, from Hypixel's public data: skills, slayers, dungeons, collections, and in the game also inventories and a networth estimate. This page is for anyone who wants to look a player up, in the game or in a browser, and to know where the numbers come from. It also explains why the viewer is not Vantage Stats, though both live on this site.

There is nothing to opt into and nothing to set up. You never paste a key.

Whether Vantage's service can read Hypixel right now is up to the maintainer's application with Hypixel; When it cannot read Hypixel says how to check.

In the game

The viewer is the feature Profile viewer, under General › Profile and playtime. It is on by default, and the command works even when the feature is switched off; the feature's options only decide which page it opens on, whether networth is estimated and which key opens your own profile.

Opening it

To look upType or press
Yourself/vt pv, or the Open button beside Look up your own profile in the feature's options
Anybody/vt pv <player>; the name completes from the players in your tab list
Yourself, from anywhereThe Open my profile key, once you bind it; it works outside menus too

/vantage pv works the same way. The key is unbound until you set one in the feature's options; how keys are bound is on Keybinds.

The header

The top of the screen shows the player's face and name, a chip for their rank and one for the profile's game mode, and one line under them: SkyBlock level, the profile's name, purse, bank when there is one, and via Hypixel.

To the right are a profile selector, for a player with more than one SkyBlock profile, and three buttons:

The six pages

PageWhat it shows
SummaryTiles for SkyBlock level, purse, bank, skill average, Catacombs level and networth; the armour and equipment worn; the active pet; and a profile card with the game mode, the day they joined, when they were last seen, fairy souls, how many co-op members, and when it was fetched.
SkillsEvery skill with its level and progress, the skill average, how many are maxed and the total experience.
SlayersEach boss's level, with total slayer experience, bosses killed and summed levels.
DungeonsCatacombs and class levels, completions by floor and in master mode, and best scores.
InventoryReal item grids with the game's own tooltips: inventory, armour, ender chest, backpacks, wardrobe, accessories, pets, vault, quiver, potions, fishing bag and candy bag.
CollectionsEvery collection by category, searchable, with its tier.

The Start on option chooses which page opens first; Summary is the default.

Networth

The Summary page estimates the profile's networth by pricing every item it holds, on a background thread, so the screen never waits for it. Hover the networth tile for the breakdown by inventory. The Estimate networth option, on by default, turns this off if you only care about levels.

The estimate uses the same prices as the rest of Vantage. It is Vantage's estimate, not a figure Hypixel sends.

In a browser

On this site, /p/ followed by a Minecraft name shows the same player's profile. The search box on the start page takes you there: it turns the name into a player through Mojang and opens their /p/ page. It never looks for a Vantage Stats page, so a search can never reveal whether somebody uses Vantage Stats.

The page has a header with the player's head, name, rank and game mode, a profile switcher, and one line saying where the data came from: Public Hypixel data, read through this site, and how long ago it was fetched. Under it are four sections:

SectionWhat it shows
SkillsEvery skill's level and progress, the skill average, how many are maxed and the total experience.
SlayersEach boss's level, with total slayer experience, bosses killed and summed levels.
DungeonsCatacombs and class levels, the class average, secrets found, and floor completions and best scores.
CollectionsThe amount collected of each, searchable. Amounts only, because the tier thresholds come from a Hypixel resource this service does not serve.

Inventories, gear, pets and networth are not on the browser page, and it says so in their place. They need Hypixel's item data decoded, which the mod does and the page does not. A player who records their own profile with Vantage Stats shows all of those on their own page.

A found /p/ page is an ordinary public page: search engines may index it, and it can be cached for a minute like any public page.

Where the data comes from

Hypixel's developer policy does not allow a public mod to ask you for an API key, so Vantage never does, and has no setting for one. Profiles are read through Vantage's own service instead, which holds one registered application key that never leaves the server.

  1. The player's name is turned into their Minecraft id through Mojang's public lookup: by the mod in the game, by the service for the web page.
  2. The service asks Hypixel for that player's profiles with its key.
  3. It answers with a document built from a fixed list of the fields the viewer draws. A co-op partner's data is emptied, so looking up one player never hands out other people's inventories, and the bank's transaction log, which names other players, is dropped.

The service keeps an answer in memory for a few hours, so a name posted in a busy channel costs Hypixel one request rather than fifty. It never writes it to a database, and nothing is fetched on a timer or kept as a history. The mod keeps what it fetched for two minutes, so switching pages never asks again.

Nothing to opt into

Anybody can be looked up, as on any profile site, because this is Hypixel's public data. What Hypixel shares about a profile is up to its owner: SkyBlock has its own API settings, under the SkyBlock menu's Settings. A player who switches one off hides that part from this viewer and from every other.

When that happens the viewer says so plainly rather than drawing a zero. In the game a page reads, for example, No skills to show, and explains that the player has skills switched off in their SkyBlock API settings and that only they can turn it back on. On the web page the section says the profile does not share it, and a bank balance Hypixel does not send reads bank not shared in the header line.

When it cannot read Hypixel

The viewer works only while Vantage's service can read Hypixel, and that depends on the service's own access, which only the maintainer can apply for. This page describes the viewer as of Vantage 2.0.1 and does not promise that it works today.

To find out, open the menu's API & Data Sources page, the feature API & Data Sources, and press Check beside Where profiles come from. It answers in chat: either the service is configured and ready, or it is up but has no Hypixel key yet, which is the maintainer's to fix and not yours.

While it cannot, the viewer says so instead of guessing:

WhereWhat it says
In the gameVantage's profile service is not reading Hypixel at the moment - it either has no application key yet, or it is at its request budget. Profiles go through it because a mod may not ask you for a Hypixel API key.
In a browserThat could not be loaded, with the service's reason and the line The maintainer's production application has not been granted yet; Vantage Stats' own pages are unaffected.

Everything else in Vantage that needs no key, such as prices, the Bazaar, auctions, item data and the mayor, is unaffected. So is Vantage Stats.

Two other answers you may meet in the game: Too many profile lookups from this connection. Give it a few minutes., and Hypixel could not be reached. Each error screen has Try again when waiting could change the answer, and a Data sources button that opens the page above.

This is not Vantage Stats

The two share a site and a look, and nothing else. They are kept apart on purpose, and each page says which one it is.
